The artichoke festival in Uri

23 January 2013 by admin in Festivals & Fairs - No Comments
artichokes

Fresh local produce are the pride and joy of small communities in Sardinia and often they are a reason for celebration. The artichoke festival that takes place on the second Sunday in March in Uri is the perfect example. A gastronomic event centred on artichokes, including the preparation and tasting of the many traditional recipes. An effort from the town to promote their products, which has paid off by the increasing attention this manifestation has received since it started in 1990.

Uri is not far from Sassari and Alghero in the North-west of Sardinia.
